Prayer Request Update - Tim Chewning is home from the hospital and it was determined that he did not have a heart attack. He said, “I am spot on now, and seem to have several more years to kick around on this blue marble.” Wes Stroop is still in the hospital. He has had a heart attack and will be facing surgery. Please continue to pray for them.
Denominational Bible Quizzing Article - Great job Andrea Phillips http://www.wesleyan.org/doc/news_article?id=406&src=news. There are around 9 that will be away this Friday and Saturday at a Bible Quiz retreat. Please be praying for them. I think we can take first next year!
Baptistery - We have purchased one and it will be here soon. If you have not been baptized then let Pastor Myron know so we can have a great service on September 13th.
Friend Day - September 27th - This could be a day that changes your friends life for an eternity. We will have Stone Canyon with us in concert, great food, and more. Let’s pack the church!
Labor Day Camping Retreat - There are still two Camp Sites available for the weekend plus I have reserved an extra one. It will be fun. Eagle Scout Project - Zach Pace will be working on his Eagle Scout project this Saturday morning. Any adults that are not helping with VBS would be welcome to come out and help! He is making an observation deck on the back hillside so parents can sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains while watching their children play. People can also go and just spend time praying there too. 
Come on out and help.
VBS Family Weekend Experiment - It begins this Friday with a cookout at 5:30 PM and then VBS kicks off at 6:30 PM. It’s going to be different, it’s going to be fun and y’all should come! For those who wish we will be camping out at the church on Friday evening. On Saturday things kick off at 9:30 AM and last until 3:00 PM. On Sunday we start at 9:45 and end at 12:00 noon. Bring your neighborhood children, your children, your grandchildren and anyone else’s children you see or know.
Fellowship Dinner – Sunday we will have a Fellowship dinner following the service. Please bring a couple well-filled dishes to pass. Please plan to come and stay. It will be great!

“BIG EVENT” – August 22nd at the Vinton Wesleyan Church— BBQ Chicken Dinner from 4-6 (Adults $7.50, Children age 5-12 $4.00). Free concert at 7:00 PM with Beckon Call.
3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT—Takes place August 29 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This is for High School and Middle School age only. There is a $20.00 fee per team (includes lunch). FAMILY CAMPING RETREAT—At Horseshoe Park on Philpot Lake, September 4-7. This will be a great time that you won’t want to miss. Pastor Myron has reserved a couple extra non-electric sites, so let him know if you are able to go. The cost is only $54.00 for three nights plus your food!
